The Travelling Artist: Jo Scott

As an artist, Jo Scott travels around the UK and Europe having adventures with her husband and little dog Thomasina, who was rescued as a puppy narrowly escaping life as a bait dog in Dublin.

She now lives the best life with her  family and is obsessed with both squirrels and balls. She is the sweetest little soul who adores people. She is very much in charge of her parents and enjoys their family travels as much as they do.

In 2020 they bought their motorhome and took off from UK  to tour around Europe. Jo runs her creative business on the road. She is a full time artist and illustrator who works to commission and designs greeting cards for Moonpig, Cardly and Thortful. She has ten years experience in greeting card illustration and over fifteen years painting pet portraits.

Her work is all centred around dogs, apart from the occasional guest cat. Jo has won awards for her work including the best “Charity Calendar” at the National Calendar Awards (now called The Callies) even beating the rather racy naked rowers calendar! It was based on rescue dogs which are very meaningful to her. Thomasina is an inspiration for her work, especially the greeting cards.

I met Jo because she designed cards for Kratu to help raise money for a charity we are Ambassadors for, Wetnose Animal Aid. I had come across her art work online and was so impressed with her dog portraits, I had to email her and discuss a Kratu project with her.

Being a regular Crufts attendee she had, of course, heard of him and was delighted to work with us. I have to say that no-one can do a scruffy dog like Jo can! I love her artwork – the way personality pops out, her capture of a dog’s mesmerising eyes, and their captivating looks.

“Tales from the campsite” on Jo’s blog are my favourite, they are beautifully written and illustrated. A colourful and intriguing  insight into her nomadic artist’s life. The Travelling Artist | Jo Scott | Substack

If you want to meet Jo in person she always attends Crufts, 7-10th March 2024 Hall 2 and stand 120.
